چکیده

Abstract Aims Rural-urban dynamics are leading to agricultural intensification practices, which affect microbial ecosystem functions in a soil-specific way. This study aimed investigate what effects has on soil communities. Methods The of N fertilization level (low and high) crop type (maize finger millet) communities were investigated, using two-factorial split-plot design, at two fields (irrigated rainfed) typical types (Nitisol Acrisol) mimicking an gradient the rural-urban interface Indian Megacity Bangalore. Results Nitisol had higher pH clay content than Acrisol. In combination with irrigation, this led aboveground plant biomass (APB), organic carbon (SOC), (MB), fungal ergosterol necromass. High APB resulted low total P content, due export high C/P MB-C/P ratios Nitisol. Crop did not parameters irrigated Nitisol, whereas affected MBP basal respiration rainfed Particulate matter (POM) was major explanatory factor for most both soils. Acrisol, drought reduced metabolic demand, counteracted negative MB. indicated by similar quotients MBC/SOC Conclusions These results indicate current need water high-quality fresh inputs improve contribution fertility

Land-use types and soil chemical properties influence soil microbial communities in the semiarid Loess Plateau region in China

Similar land-use types usually have similar soil properties, and, most likely, similar microbial communities. Here, we assessed whether land-use types or soil chemical properties are the primary drivers of soil microbial community composition, and how changes in one part of the ecosystem affect another. We applied Ion Torrent sequencing to the bacterial and fungal communities of five different ...

Population Growth and Land Use Dynamics along Urban–Rural Gradient

In this study we apply a spatial conditional logit model to determine factors influencing land cover change in three contiguous counties in West Georgia between 1992 and 2001 using point (pixel) based observations of land characteristics. We found that accessibility to population and population growth affect not only development of rural lands and transition between agricultural and forestry us...

Integrate land and water use planning at the scale of the urban master plan

The survival of cities as living beings and their inhabitants depends on the supply of water. Numerous factors such as population growth, climate, drought, consumption pattern, amount of available water resources and utility network affect the equation of water supply and consumption. What has been less considered in the traditional planning process than ever before is the connection between la...
